Christmas

This year brought a chance to do something I've wanted to do for years: volunteer at a shelter. I have a couple of friends who always do this and they used to say I'd love it and they were right. I like to hang out and waffle - given the right context, and this was a good context. Basically you are a friend: nothing special, you make tea, munchies and hang out. It's not such a great sacrifice, it was a blessing. I met some really genuine and open-hearted people, down to earth people with their priorities straight. And there were some nice volunteers too =). Below is a group drawing we did on the Boxing-day night. On Christmas-Eve we played what was I think my most fun ever game of scrabble and I was roundly beaten. A guy called Dave won. He turned from ashen and withdrawn to rosy and rather quite cheeky! That was the most Christmasy transformation I have ever seen. I only hope the people I met find a way to survive the rest of this cold winter. Steve and Berrisford if you read this. Hello. Am listening to Junior Byles.
