Things from the kitchen drawer. Over the years small knick-knacks that found their way downstairs and loitered in the kitchen were put away in this shallow draw we have in our tiny kitchen table. It was a desk, but it got tiled and acts as an extra surface, though its rickety legs won't last forever because the cat (Calico) has been clawing at them for a decade or so. Anyway, this draw has developed a life of its own, and is full of several different types of ball, elastic bands, pens, crayons, and lots of random objects many of which are kinder egg toys or dolls house items. It's a wonderful draw, especially if you are a child. They ritualistically empty it when they are here, all of them seemingly knowing without being informed that it is there for their benefit. Thing is I regularly rifle through it myself without thinking when on the phone or in need of a paper clip or something, and it still has a magical fascination for me, like those games in infant school where you had to put your hand in a bag and guess what the object was just by feel. The draw has overflowed a few times, and got jammed. It requires a modicum of weeding every five years or so. It's that kind of draw, that kind of table, that kind of kitchen, that kind of house.
